Introduction
Amee is a macOS app: a floating, always-on-top, transparent mini player that shows whatever’s currently playing on your Mac — any app, not just one music service — plus an audio-reactive visualizer. It sits on top of everything else on screen, follows you between apps, and stays out of the way until you want it.
What Amee does
Section titled “What Amee does”Amee shows the title, artist, album art, and playback position of whatever’s currently playing — Music, Spotify, a browser tab, anything — and lets you play/pause/skip, seek, and control system volume and output device, all from a small floating pill that stays on top of every other window.
Make it your own
Section titled “Make it your own”Amee supports skins — a full replacement of the mini player’s UI: layout, controls, the visualizer, anything. Amee’s own default look (classic) is itself just a skin. Install one from the skin store or write your own. See Skins.
Underneath any skin sit themes — a set of color and style tokens that change how every surface looks (the dashboard, the built-in skin, any skin that reads the tokens) without touching layout or behavior. See Themes.
The browser extension
Section titled “The browser extension”An optional extension for Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers lets Amee see what a browser tab is playing, jump straight back to it, and follow a video that’s been popped out into Picture-in-Picture — the one case macOS’s own now-playing information can’t cover. See Browser Extension.
Where to go next
Section titled “Where to go next”Start with Getting Started to install and set up Amee. The Features section covers everything the app does out of the box — now playing, the visualizer, volume/output control, window behavior, and the settings dashboard. Customization covers skins, themes, and the skin SDK for anyone building their own skin.
